Frequently Asked Questions

Q  How will I be notified if a failure occurs after business hours?

A  Even after normal hours of operation, DegreeGuard will still work around the clock to ensure the safety of your perishable items by alerting you with a text message or e-mail notification if conditions exceed your recommended thresholds.

Can the DegreeGuard monitor be placed in any location throughout my restaurant?

A   Yes, it can be placed in any location in the restaurant.

Q Is the temperature sensor wall mountable?

Yes, with the use of zip-ties, screws or a Velcro adhesive.  Place on the desired location of the wall, wired rack or interior of the cooler/freezer and dining areas.

Is DegreeGuard HACCP compliant?

A    Yes

Q What is the accuracy of DegreeGuard?

A    1 Degree F (½ degree Celsius)

Q What are the temperatures ranges of the sensors?

A    -67 to 212 Degrees F (-55 to 100 degrees Celsius)

Q How often does the monitor record the temperatures?

A    Every 15 minutes

Q If the temperature sensor battery runs out, will the previous temperatures be recorded?

A    Temperature values are periodically uploaded to our data center for permanent storage. Hence, no temperature values will be lost when the battery goes dead.

If the battery runs out no data will be transmitted from the sensor to the control unit. However, weeks before the end of battery life, we receive an end of battery notification. We package and ship a replacment unit at no cost. We ask that you return the old sensor in the self-addressed stamped box. We will recycle the sensor for you.

Estimated battery life is 2 1/2 to 3 1/2 years.

Q Can DegreeGuard track temperatures even during power outages?

Yes!  The wireless temperature sensors will continue to record temperatures for up to 12 hours even if the DegreeGuard Monitor losses power. Once power is restored, the temperature data will be sent from the sensor and viewable on the website.  If you are concerned about tracking temperatures for outages that are longer than 12 hours, we suggest you plug the DegreeGuard Monitor into a low-cost UPS available at most electronics and office supply stores. Even a small 300VA UPS will power the entire system for several days, ensuring that you have uninterrupted records of your critical storage temperatures.

Be sure that you plug the DegreeGuard Monitor into the port that is battery powered as many of these devices have some plugs that are not on battery backup - but only provide voltage spike protection.

What software do you provide and is it included?

A  We provide the software and it is included with the purchase of a DegreeGuard Monitor. The software provided allows you to change settings within your account, download statistical data, and display historical graphs. All data and graphs can be seen with your login and password.
